ABOUT THE COFFEE
Daanisa is a coffee that demonstrates why we value natural Ethiopian coffees so highly. From the very first sip, it showcases a vibrant fruitiness – melon brings a juicy, honeyed sweetness, blueberries add depth and freshness, while cardamom appears as a subtle, spicy accent that gives the whole cup character. However, this is not just a result of processing.
Behind this profile lies a specific place and method of work. The coffee trees grow at a high altitude in the Guji region, where coffee is traditionally grown among other plants, preserving natural shade and biodiversity. The name Daanisa itself comes from a local tree that is part of this landscape – a place where coffee is grown not separately from nature but alongside it. A group of 44 local producers, collaborating with the Dambi Uddo station, is responsible for the beans. Only carefully selected, ripe cherries are processed, which are then dried whole on raised beds.
This method preserves the natural sweetness of the fruit and creates a distinctive profile: intense yet at the same time clean and structured. What we love most about this coffee is the synergy of Guji’s characteristic energy combined with elegance, which compels us to return to it. It is a coffee that needs no additives or complicated brewing story to reveal its character.
