All about the product

The universal clamp meter with automatic measurement range allows for basic and advanced measurements of electrical quantities. The meter features a measuring clamp that enables the measurement of direct and alternating current using a single wire with an integrated HALL sensor. Measurements take place without disconnecting the circuit or separating it from the power source, allowing for measurements of much greater current than conventional electrical meters. The measurement probe wires have silicone insulation, which is flexible and resistant to high temperatures.

Note: in meters capable of measuring direct current, including the YT-730934, a Hall sensor is used to measure the strength of the magnetic field. The magnetic field on Earth occurs naturally, so the readings of the direct current intensity meter are non-zero. Before measuring the direct current intensity, the meter must be brought close to the cable being tested, reset using the REL button, then clamp onto the tested cable and read the result.

Basic measurements:

  • AC voltage measurement: 0-600 V, TRUE RMS (40-1000 Hz)
  • DC voltage measurement: 0-600 V.
  • AC current measurement: 0-600 A, TRUE RMS (40-1000 Hz)
  • DC current measurement: DC 0-600 A
  • resistance measurement: 0-60 MΩ
  • diode testing: IF 1.5 mA, UR 3 V
  • continuity test: 0-50 Ω

Additional measurements:

  • AC and DC voltage measurement in low resistance mode: 0-600 V
  • capacitor measurement: 0-60 mF
  • frequency measurement: 0-300 kHz
  • temperature measurement: -30-1000 °C
  • non-contact AC voltage detection: NCV

Measurement accuracy:

Example of determining accuracy in AC current measurement. Calculation of the measurement result: 30 A

  • The accuracy of the YT-730934 meter in this range is: ±(2.0 %+30), resolution 0.01 A
  • formula for calculating measurement errors: (measurement result x 2 %) + 30 x resolution
  • calculation: (30 x 2 %) + 30 x 0.01 = 0.6 + 0.3 = 0.90 A

The actual result, including the measurement error, at 30 A indication = 30 ± 0.90 A .

  • Result including measurement error for indicated AC voltage measurement: 235 V = 235 ± 2.65 V
  • Result including measurement error for indicated DC voltage measurement: 12 V = 12 ± 0.09 V

A table with measurement resolution and accuracy can be found in the user manual.

Built-in features:

  • TRUE RMS - the meter with this function shows the true RMS value of AC voltage/current. Unlike average value meters, devices with true RMS values provide correct readings not only for sinusoidal but also for distorted waveforms, such as those generated by switching power supplies, motor inverters, HVAC devices, etc. This function is essential wherever switching power supplies are present in the circuit.
  • VlowZ - measurement of AC and DC voltage in low resistance mode. Due to the phenomenon commonly referred to as ghost voltage, it can be difficult to diagnose, for example, the power networks in industrial buildings. This phenomenon is caused by voltage induced in an unconnected cable, where voltage was induced from a cable connected to the network through the same channel. The LowZ feature reduces the meter's measurement sockets resistance by 10 times compared to standard measurement mode, thus the meter takes a slightly higher current when sampling voltage and thus discharges the charge accumulated in the cable. As a result, voltage is measured without ghost voltage.
  • NCV - non-contact AC voltage detection using an inductive method. The meter detects voltage in an insulated cable and can also indicate the phase wire
  • AUTO - automatic measurement range adjustment. When measuring unknown values with a manually ranged meter, measurements should be made sequentially from the highest range to the one giving the most accurate result; otherwise, there is a risk of damaging the device. On the other hand, using a multimeter with the AUTO function, only one measurement is necessary and the meter will automatically find the optimal range. By default, the meter is started in AUTO mode
  • DATA HOLD - storing the currently measured value on the screen
  • PEAK HOLD - holding the maximum measured value displayed by the probes on the screen
  • INRUSH current (inrush current) - measuring the inrush current with the probes. The meter measures the current within 100 ms from the device's turn-on
  • REL - relative value function. Allows you to establish zero readings of the meter. Necessary in direct current measurement mode. The Hall sensor measures the electromagnetic field value and displays the result on the screen. Before you start measuring DC, bring the meter close to the cable being tested, reset the zero, and then place the clamp around the tested cable. This will yield a result not disturbed by the surrounding electromagnetic field value.

Additional information:

  • LCD screen, maximum displayed result: 6000
  • backlight for the display and clamp testing field
  • audible signal during continuity testing when resistance is below 50 Ω
  • ability to separately enable diode and continuity tests
  • the clamp opens up to 25 mm and allows measuring a single wire with a diameter of no more than 25 mm
  • 14.5 cm long probes
  • cable length with probes: 97 cm
  • cable diameter, including insulation: 3.5 mm
  • includes a case
  • overload protection design
  • automatic meter shut-off after 15 minutes of inactivity
  • option to disable the auto-off feature
  • low battery indicator
  • power source: two 1.5 V (AAA) batteries

Attention!

Current measurement with the clamp must be done with a single wire, a single cable. If the clamps are attached to a multi-conductor cable and one conductor is not insulated, incorrect readings or zero current flow will occur.
