ABOUT THE COFFEE
Nyabirongo is located on the southern slopes of the Rwenzori mountains in western Uganda. It is an important point for local bakonzo producers and at the same time a quality center for Agri Evolve – a company that has been collaborating with farmers in the region since 2018. The Nyabirongo mill has been operational since 2022, combining both wet and dry mills to ensure that quality control covers the entire process from receiving the cherries to preparing green coffee for export.
This batch is natural. Ripe cherries are hand-picked, sorted by flotation, and tightly sealed in fermentation tanks. After fermentation, the coffee is dried in thin layers, then hulled and sorted. The result? A lot of fruit, high sweetness, and a characteristic aftertaste reminiscent of rum. Coffee with character. No pretenses.
ROASTER'S OPINION
This is Uganda, darker, fruitier coffee. It is not "polite." It is sweet and fermented, with aromas of cherries and blueberries. It is best enjoyed as filtered coffee for people who like coffee with a strong processing but without a heavy, muddy body. Lots of flavor. Very little boredom.
