All about the product
CAN-BUS Shield V2 with MCP2515 and MCP2551, designed for the controller and transmitter. It is compatible with Arduino, meaning it can switch the Arduino board, such as Arduino Uno, to start your CAN-BUS project.
Due to its medium communication speed and high reliability, CAN-BUS is a common industrial bus. It is typically found in modern machine tools or as an automotive diagnostic bus. Thanks to CAN-BUS, manufacturers can conveniently hack their cars. To facilitate interaction with cars, this CAN-BUS add-on was released, featuring the MCP2515 CAN-BUS controller with SPI interface and MCP2551 CAN transceiver, providing Arduino / Seeeduino CAN-BUS capabilities.
CAN-BUS Shield V2 still uses MCP2515 as the CAN-BUS controller and MCP2551 as the CAN transceiver. Nevertheless, there are indeed many updates. First, the OBD-II or CAN standard connector can be selected by toggling jumpers on the DB9 interface, with the default connector being OBD-II. Second, a TF card slot is included for data storage, and the CS pin can be set to D4 or D5. The INT pin can also be set to D2 or D3 by toggling jumpers at the back of the add-on. If you want to use more than 2 CAN-BUS add-ons, the P1 pad must be cut. In version V2, the P1 pad has been moved from the front to the back of the add-on for easier cutting and soldering. Nevertheless, there are more possible customization options.
CAN-BUS communication structure. Assuming that the D0 / D1 pin is commonly used for downloading code, we change the serial Grove connector to the A0 / A1 pin. The I2C Grove connector is also changed to a more acceptable standard SDA / SCL pin, instead of the previous A4 / A5. Both Grove connectors are switched to horizontal rather than vertical on the add-on for easier connection to other Grove modules.
The CAN BUS add-on is best compatible with Arduino UNO (ATmega328), Arduino Mega (ATmega1280 / 2560), as well as with Arduino Leonardo (ATmega32U4) and LinkIt One boards.
