All about the product

Baking dish, completely made of cast iron, from the well-known Swedish brand Skeppshult, which can be used on all types of stoves, as well as in the oven, on the grill, or just over an open fire due to the material it is made of.

Skeppshult brand products are made only from natural, environmentally friendly ingredients, which is an alternative to mass-produced aluminum pans. Cast iron withstands very high temperatures. The bottom of the pan is slightly recessed, which in turn protects against deformation when exposed to high heat.

Dimensions: diameter about 25 cm (baking surface 23 cm)
bottom diameter (surface in contact with the stove, oven) 20 cm
height: about 4.8 cm
Weight: about 2.85 kg

Not dishwasher safe

Skeppshult brand pans are pre-seasoned with rapeseed oil during production and are delivered to the customer in this form. This means they are ready to use. They just need to be rinsed under warm running water to remove any dust and other impurities that may have occurred during transport or storage.

Additionally, Skeppshult brand pans are made only from natural ingredients, resulting in two main advantages arising from this fact:

- firstly, the surface of the pan is only seasoned, not coated or enamelled. This means the dish is naturally enriched with iron, which is often lacking in our daily diet. Using cast iron cookware, a portion of this element seeps into the food, enriching its composition;
- secondly, the seasoned oil prevents food from sticking. However, using the pan requires skill and feel: the surface becomes increasingly resistant to sticking over time. The more often it is used at high temperatures, the more the seasoned oil protects its surface. However, it is important to regularly re-season the pan.

When we first encounter a Skeppshult brand product, we immediately notice its weight. It definitely limits the ability of the hands, but it also has its advantages. Each Skeppshult brand item has a 5 mm thick surface. This ensures even heat distribution during heating and prevents the pan from cooling when food is added. Another aspect is the high-temperature resistance of cast iron products: the bottom of the pan is recessed, protecting against deformation typical of pans with thin bottoms, such as Teflon pans. All Skeppshult brand products are suitable for any type of stove, including induction.

We believe in our products, are confident in their high quality, and for this reason, we offer a 25-year warranty.

CARE

For daily maintenance, a brush and warm water without detergents are sufficient. It is best to clean the pan while it is still warm. After washing, dry the pan thoroughly – placing it on a hot stove is a good way to dry it out.

If the pan is not completely dry, rust stains may appear on it. If you notice a brown color or any other color that differs from the standard cast iron color on the surface of the pan, it may indicate that the pan was not cleaned thoroughly enough. In that case, sprinkle coarse salt over the entire bottom surface of the pan, and add a small amount of water. Then heat the pan at a high temperature for about 1-2 minutes until all the water evaporates. Remove any remaining salt after the water has evaporated, and then wipe dry with a paper towel. The product will now be gray, and this color indicates that the pan needs to be re-seasoned with oil.

To do this, add a small amount of rapeseed oil to the dry pan, then heat the pan to high temperatures. Remember, do not heat pans with wooden handles in the oven! After about 10-15 minutes, remove the excess oil. The dish should be black, indicating that it is ready to use again.
