The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

A dice adventure game about Bilbo's journey to the Lonely Mountain.
In a certain hole in the ground lived a hobbit. Until one day, accompanied by a wizard and thirteen dwarfs, he set off on a path!

“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” is a competitive dice game where you and your friends embark on a challenging journey to the Lonely Mountain to reclaim the lost dwarven treasure and defeat the dragon Smaug. Along the way, you will encounter trolls and goblins, solve puzzles, escape from storms, and save dwarves from peril. All this – 8 unique adventures!

What does it include?

• Participants take an adventure book and a marker, then together choose the adventure they want to play. Each adventure has a different goal to achieve to complete it. Each also has its own rules.
• The first player rolls the white travel dice located at the center of the table. Then they make their first move: choose one die and place it in front of themselves. They then immediately perform the corresponding action in their adventure book.
• Possible actions include drawing further sections of the path on the map, as well as various ways to gather resources. This allows us to achieve the specific adventure goals and earn valuable points.
• Players take turns until the last die is rolled. Then the player on the left becomes the first player rolling the dice and starting a new round.
• The game continues this way until the conditions for the end of the adventure are met. Then the players count their points, and the player with the most points wins.

• It’s a new offering from Reiner Knizia – a well-known board game designer, author of such games as “MLEM: Space Agency”, “The Witch Rock”, and “Marabunta”.
• The game consists of eight different adventures. Each is based on events from J.R.R. Tolkien's novel “The Hobbit, or There and Back Again”. Each adventure is independent and can be played in any order. However, we encourage using dry-erase markers so that the game remains memorable longer. Unlike other games where writing and rolling are allowed, you do not need to pay for the number of pages in the included notebook.
