"Amniocheck" is an in vitro diagnostic medical device in the form of a pad, designed for self-monitoring of potential amniotic fluid leakage. The package contains five easy-to-use pad tests. The "Amniocheck" test is recommended for both high-risk and low-risk pregnancies. When it comes into contact with fluid having a pH equal to or greater than 6.5, which corresponds to the pH of amniotic fluid, the pad test zone turns green or blue. Due to the use of a special polymer, the "Amniocheck" test distinguishes amniotic fluid from urine, which may have similar pH. The test can yield a positive result in the presence of a vaginal infection. A positive result from the "Amniocheck" test should always be discussed with a physician.
Amniotic fluid leakage is a dangerous phenomenon for both the mother and the fetus, and a pregnant woman with normal vaginal discharge or urine may easily confuse it. Amniotic fluid leakage requires urgent medical attention.
