In Japan, bancha is considered a daily tea and is often served with meals. It can be enjoyed throughout the day as it contains 70% less caffeine than gyokuro. Due to its long photosynthesis cycle, bancha has a higher tannin content than other teas. Tannins, also known as tannoids, have anti-inflammatory and detoxifying effects.
