Observing the surface of the Moon through this filter will greatly enhance contrasts. The same goes for the planet Mars. In the giant planet Jupiter, using the filter you can even see contrasts between cloud bands and much more detail. Starting with an 8-inch telescope and under good visibility, you will be able to see various details of Saturn.

The ND96 filter can also be used to split close double stars when one of their brightness significantly exceeds the other pair's brightness.
