All about the product

Automatic alignment: ready for observation in just a few minutes

The StarSense Autoguider integrates the telescope with the night sky in about three minutes, at the press of just one button – user intervention is not required. Celestron's patented StarSense technology "sees" the arrangement of stars overhead and compares it with its internal database to automatically point the telescope. This feature eliminates the need for manual telescope alignment, allowing you to focus on what matters – observing and capturing images.

Precise GoTo: enhance your aiming accuracy

Celestron's computerized mounts are already renowned for their aiming accuracy, and your mount gets even better by adding the StarSense Autoguider. The precise GoTo not only places celestial objects in the telescope's field of view but also at the center – even if you are using a powerful eyepiece or modern small sensors.

Autoguiding: create your celestial masterpiece

Capturing images of astronomical objects is one of the most exciting things to do with a telescope. However, to photograph stunning images of distant space, autoguiding is essential – the ability to make small corrections to the mount's tracking so that the object remains fixed during long exposures. Previous autoguiding systems have been complex and expensive, often requiring a separate autoguiding camera, guiding telescope, and computer. The StarSense Autoguider replaces all of that, so even beginners can enter the world of image capture. Your objects are clear and detailed, and background stars appear as bright points, never elongated or streaked.

Help with polar alignment: Choose the best alignment

Many users find that adding the StarSense Autoguider to their equipment improves accuracy so much that they no longer need to polar align German equatorial mounts for most routine observations and image captures.

However, if you want to achieve the best possible precision, autoguiding significantly simplifies the polar alignment process. Simply follow the on-screen instructions on the hand control or CPWI software, and in less than five minutes, you can complete a full polar alignment.

High-quality 4-element optical design

The StarSense Autoguider is equipped with a high-quality 4-element optical design created by renowned optical designer Mark Ackermann. Its unique design ensures sharper images than other small guiding telescopes. The optical tube is equipped with a thread for mounting 2-inch astronomical filters. Add an IR-pass filter to match your mount or an opaque filter for daytime focus.

The device also features a built-in computer and a highly sensitive Sony IMX290-DLL monochrome CMOS sensor, which together ensure flawless guiding accuracy. If you wish, you can view the camera's live image through your computer.

Additional features

Experienced users will enjoy the ability to finely adjust the autoguiding settings using CPWI's advanced settings. You can activate dithering options to slightly move the mount between camera sections, which can help your image processing software work optimally.

You can also control the comet using CPWI. Simply select the comet from the continuously updated software database containing over 100,000 celestial objects. Pointing directly at the comet will yield better results than pointing at nearby stars.

The best part is that you can unlock a variety of exciting features like this throughout the operational life of the StarSense Autoguider. Your purchase grants access to all future software updates. Celestron engineers continually enhance our products with new features, and after a simple update, you will always be able to enjoy the latest and greatest capabilities.

Works with your current setup

You can choose how you want to control your StarSense Autoguider. It works with your NexStar+ hand controller, CPWI telescope control software via a wired connection to your computer, or WiFi (with a WiFi-enabled mount or the SkyPortal WiFi module accessory). The autoguider also works with other Celestron accessories, providing a unified solution ideally suited for your telescope setup.

The StarSense Autoguider works with most current Celestron computerized mounts, both German equatorial and altazimuth. Complete compatibility information is provided in the table below.* Automatic alignment: Thanks to Celestron's patented StarSense technology, the telescope aligns with the night sky in about three minutes with no user intervention.

  • Precise GoTo function: Increases the accuracy of Celestron mount pointing by placing celestial objects at the center of the field of view of high-power eyepieces and small image sensors.

  • Autoguiding: Accurately tracks celestial objects to obtain precise star images in long-exposure astrophotography photos, eliminating the need for a separate autoguiding camera, guiding telescope, and computer.

  • Polar alignment assistance: Easy-to-use, automated procedure that helps determine the best polar alignment.

  • High-quality 4-element optical design: Provides a unique optical design developed by renowned optics designer Mark Ackermanns, superior to other small guiding telescopes.

  • Multiple control methods: Works with NexStar+ hand controller or CPWI telescope control software, through a wired connection to a computer or WiFi.
