Freewell Brandon Li 72 mm variable ND/CPL filter set

The Freewell Brandon Li 72 mm set is a modular filter system designed for photography and videography in various lighting conditions. It combines a VND filter with a 1–5 stop adjustable range and a CPL polarizing filter, along with the included ND32 filter, allowing for light reduction of up to 6–10 stops. The kit also includes a 1/4 Glow Mist filter, a 72 mm base ring, protective caps, and storage and cleaning accessories, making the entire system suitable for both planned shots and dynamic on-location filming.

Independent VND and CPL adjustment

The VND/CPL module allows for separate control of the amount of light and the degree of polarization. The front black ring controls the VND filter in a 1–5 stop range, allowing you to quickly adjust exposure to existing conditions without frequently changing the camera settings. The back green ring, in turn, is used to adjust the CPL, which helps reduce reflections on water, glass, and other non-metallic surfaces while improving color accuracy and scene contrast.

Light reduction from 1 to 10 stops

In its basic VND/CPL configuration, it allows adjustment from ND2 to ND32, corresponding to a 1–5 stop light reduction range. When there is significantly more light, the additional ND32 filter can be magnetically attached to extend the range to 6–10 stops, up to a level equivalent to ND1000. The ND32 filter itself can also be attached directly to the base ring, allowing you to customize the kit's configuration for specific shots without needing to carry multiple separate filter systems.

Magnetic attachment and Glow Mist 1/4

The magnetic system allows for quick attachment and removal of filters, and the locking mechanism helps keep them secure while moving with the camera or frequently changing shots. The included Glow Mist 1/4 filter can be attached directly to the base ring or magnetically to the VND/CPL module, providing more flexibility to achieve the desired final effect. Its purpose is to gently soften bright areas of the image and give lighter areas a softer character, which can be beneficial in portrait, urban landscape, and film shots.

18 layer coating and True Color technology

The optical design features 18 layers of optical coatings to reduce reflections and maintain high image sharpness. The Anti-Color Shift layer, a component of True Color technology, helps to reduce unwanted color shifts when reducing light, ensuring that colors remain as natural as possible across the full operational range of the filter. The system is complemented by front and rear protective caps; the front cap includes an integrated gray card that can be used to control white balance.
