All about the product
TPU tubes have long been our favorite choice as spare tubes because they take up very little space. This allows you to carry two tubes where only one used to fit. For a long time, the problem was that plastic valves tended to separate from the tube itself, the valve cores were often pressed into the plastic causing air leaks, and the joint where the tube was connected often couldn't hold up.
A spare tube is not very useful if it simply fails when you try to use it. SILCA decided to change that. Our TPU tubes use a patented technology that mechanically anchors the valve to the tube, and also features a welded joint that effectively prevents failures. Additionally, we used a threaded aluminum valve that helps the tube resist the heat generated by electric pumps, and we added a valve nut that ensures maximum stability, security, and no rattling.
Over the past few years, TPU materials have made significant advancements and have nearly reached the rolling resistance efficiency of latex tubes or tubeless systems, while weighing only a fraction of the latex weight. Our tubes weigh from 45 to 62 g – allowing for extremely low weight, reduced rolling resistance, and exceptional compactness for transport.
