The main advantage of TPU AIR is the ability to directly control material properties through printing temperature. At lower temperatures, the filament prints like traditional TPU material, characterized by high abrasion resistance and 90A hardness. Increasing the temperature activates the foaming technology, making the material lighter and softer. At maximum expansion, the density can be reduced by half, and the hardness decreases to 69A. This allows for creating components with different feel and performance without changing the filament.
Ideal for lightweight and flexible componentsDue to its lightweight, flexibility, and good tear resistance combination, TPU AIR is suitable for a variety of applications. The material is especially well-suited for cushioning components, protective gear, grip surfaces, sports equipment, shoe insoles, portable products, and other uses where both comfort and low weight are important. The matte, fabric-like surface finish that occurs during foaming also opens up creative and aesthetic application possibilities that are hard to achieve with traditional TPU materials.
