TECHNOLOGIES
MIPS This acronym stands for Multi-Directional Impact Protection System; it is an innovative technology that can be used in various types of helmets. MIPS was developed to make helmets safer against oblique impacts in both recreational and outdoor sports (mountaineering, mountain biking, and motorcycling) and in the workplace. MIPS is a moving layer integrated inside the protective helmet - closer to the head surface. The sliding layer is not rigidly attached but can move forward and backward by 10-15 millimeters. In the case of a side impact, such a movement range allows the helmet structure to redirect the acting rotational forces away from the user's head and brain with a sliding motion. Therefore, helmets with the MIPS system provide a higher level of protection for the helmet user than ordinary helmets.
