The T-34-85 was a modernized version of the famous Soviet medium tank T-34. It was accepted into the service of the Red Army in January 1944. T-34 tanks played an important role in the history of Polish units fighting alongside the Red Army. The first T-34s arrived in the Eastern-forming Polish army already in 1943, and by the second half of 1944, Polish units were receiving T-34-85s too. By the end of the war, the Soviet Union transferred 328 T-34-85 tanks to Polish units.
