![]() | How is Franke Fragranit+ made?Franke Fragranit+ is a material that consists of 80% granite and 20% acrylic. Granite is the fourth hardest material in nature (after topaz, ruby, and diamond). Acrylic is one of the highest quality synthetic materials used in many production fields: aquariums, dentistry, etc. For two reasons, acrylic is used in Fragranit sinks. First, it does not transmit more light than glass. This is important for achieving more shades. Acrylic also has excellent mechanical properties, which improves the quality of Fragranit sinks. The color pigment is chemically coated on especially pure granite particles. The pigment is used as a binder when the mass enters the high-temperature furnace. The pigment, mixed with granite, chemically binds all particles when exposed to heat. To obtain a natural color, different monochromatic particles are mixed in specified proportions. The resulting granite is mixed with acrylic. This is a challenging task, as granite is much stronger than stainless steel. At this stage of production, Fragranit is liquid like lava. To turn this liquid mass into a solid product, high temperature is maintained during casting. The casting mold itself is turned upside down. Granite is heavier than acrylic, so it is natural that more granite settles at the bottom, i.e., in the future working surface. The sink is processed with a diamond cutter, as only it is hard enough to carve the desired shape. |

What is a valve and which one to choose?By a valve, we mean the sink plug, overflow pipe, and connecting part to the piping. Generally, this simple mechanism is included with stone mass sinks. The valve can be of two types - hand-operated and eccentric. The eccentric valve is controlled by a handle or button, which is installed into the sink or countertop. Some series, such as Ronda or Strata, offer sinks both with a manual and an eccentric valve. However, most Franke stone mass sinks come equipped with an eccentric valve. | ![]() |
