Freewell Brandon Li 77 mm Variable ND/CPL Filter Kit

The Freewell Brandon Li 77 mm kit is a modular filter system designed for photography and videography under various lighting conditions. It combines a variable ND filter with an adjustable 1–5 stop range and a CPL polarizing filter, and by adding the included ND32 filter, light reduction can be increased to 6–10 stops. The kit also includes a 1/4 Glow Mist filter, a 77 mm base ring, protective covers, and storage and cleaning accessories, making the entire system perfect for both planned shots and dynamic onsite filming.

Independent VND and CPL Control

The VND/CPL module allows for separate control of light intake and polarization degree. The front black ring controls the VND filter within a 1–5 stop range, enabling you to quickly adjust exposure to current conditions without frequently changing camera settings. The rear green ring, in turn, is used to adjust the CPL, which helps reduce reflections on water, glass, and other non-metallic surfaces while improving color accuracy and scene contrast.

1–10 Stop Light Reduction

In the base VND/CPL configuration, it allows adjustment from ND2 to ND32, corresponding to a 1–5 stop light reduction range. When light conditions are significantly higher, the additional ND32 filter can be magnetically attached, extending the range to 6–10 stops, up to a level corresponding to ND1000. The ND32 filter can also be mounted directly to the base ring, allowing you to customize the kit configuration for specific shots without carrying multiple separate filter systems.

Magnetic Mounting and Glow Mist 1/4

The magnetic system allows for quick attachment and removal of filters, and the locking mechanism helps keep them securely in place while moving with the camera or frequently changing shots. The included Glow Mist 1/4 filter can be attached directly to the base ring or magnetically affixed to the VND/CPL module, providing greater flexibility in achieving the desired final effect. Its purpose is to gently soften bright areas of the image and give lighter spots a softer hue, which can be useful for portrait, city, and film shots.

18 Layer Coatings and True Color Technology

The optical construction features 18 layers of optical coatings designed to reduce reflections and maintain high image sharpness. The Anti-Color Shift layer, part of the True Color technology, helps minimize unwanted color shifts when reducing light, ensuring that colors remain as natural as possible throughout the filter's operating range. The system is complemented by front and rear protective caps; the front cap includes an integrated gray card that can be used to control white balance.
