GABA Tabs are a dietary supplement providing gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).
GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a non-protein amino acid naturally occurring in the body and one of the most important neurotransmitters present in the central nervous system. It acts as an inhibitory neurotransmitter and works through GABA-A, GABA-B, and GABA-C receptors found in various cells of the nervous system.
GABA is naturally synthesized in the body from glutamic acid – an excitatory amino acid. One of its mechanisms of action involves the activation of GABA-A receptors, primarily located in the membranes of postsynaptic neurons. This results in the hyperpolarization of the cell membrane and decreased excitability of neurons.
GABA Tabs provide 500 mg of GABA in one tablet. This product is a convenient source of this naturally occurring compound in the body. The tablet form facilitates daily use without the need to prepare product portions.
