All about the product
Classic metal chess set with gold and silver chess pieces and a 28 cm black and white chessboard
Staunton chess pieces - the ones we know and love, the ones we simply call chess pieces. These classic chess pieces are named after Howard Staunton, who was regarded as one of the best players in the world. The knight - the most complex and distinctive piece in any chess set - is realistically carved as a horse's head. The Staunton knight was likely inspired by the sculpture of the eastern pediment of the Parthenon. The "Manopoulos Staunton" reinforces this architectural history of the original pieces while maintaining respect for their timeless design.
