All about the product
VOLTAGE SURGE PROTECTION DEVICE 3P DC 1000V T2 CLASS SCHELINGER Three-phase voltage surge protection device 3P DC, designed for the protection of photovoltaic installations. It is equipped with a visual operation indicator (green – protection, red – no protection). Protects against voltage surges caused by indirect discharges and switching processes – type 2 limiters (previously class C). It has integrated thermal protection – does not require additional thermal protection (although it is always recommended). Application The voltage surge limiter included in the offer is designed for the protection of photovoltaic installations against voltages induced by switching and atmospheric factors. They can also be installed in branch circuits, high distribution devices, and distribution boards, protecting electrical equipment and sensitive devices. The entire system is protected by varistors, whose main advantage is high response speed. They can switch from a high resistance state to a low resistance state in less than 25 ns. With small dimensions, they have a high energy absorption capacity. Varistors are used for protection against voltage surges in both alternating and direct current circuits. For this reason, a three-stage voltage surge protection system is used for powering objects. It consists of type 1, 2, and 3 protective devices according to PN-EN 61643-11 standard (previously designated as classes B, C, and D according to DIN VDE 0675). Type 1 protective device, also known as class B, is often referred to as a lightning rod, designed for the protection against high voltage surges caused by a direct or nearby lightning strike on the power line. Its task is to limit the voltage impulse to a value lower than 4 kV. Type 2 protective device, also known as class C, is often simply called a protective device. Its task is to limit the voltage surge to a value of 1–1.5 kV, which protects a large part of electrical receivers from switching voltage surges and surges reduced by type 1 protective devices, but still posing a threat to equipment that is very sensitive to any voltage surges. Devices of classes B and C are often installed in home distribution devices. Type 3 protective device, also known as class D, is designed for the direct protection of selected devices, sensitive to any voltage surges. It is installed in the distribution equipment or behind the electrical box socket, or directly within the device itself. All types of protective devices must be installed in a cascading manner; otherwise, the entire protection against voltage surges will be ineffective. Subsequent stage devices, without the preceding stage devices, cannot remove loads. Without the preceding stage, they are destroyed.
