Both the P2S Class 1 and P2S Class 4 devices use the same powerful 55 W CO₂ laser. The difference lies in the safety design of the device and the control of the laser beam during operation:

• P2S Class 1 – the laser is fully enclosed, with a sealed housing and safety locks on the lid and base plate. When the lid is opened or the base plate is removed, the laser automatically shuts off. This ensures that during regular use, the laser beam cannot escape, making the device safe to use in classrooms, offices, and shared spaces without requiring safety glasses.
• P2S Class 4 – while equipped with the same laser, this version does not completely enclose the beam. When the lid is open or the main plate is removed during operation, stray laser radiation may escape. For this reason, strict safety measures are necessary, including protective eyewear, limited access, and a controlled environment.

In short: Class 1 devices offer the same cutting and engraving performance as Class 4 devices but feature a completely enclosed design that prioritizes safety and ease of use.
