This is a solution for seeing the partial phases of solar eclipses or even large sunspots with your own eyes!
The product design is registered with the German Patent Office. The glasses are made in Germany.
“AstroSolar™-Silver Film” was specifically designed for visual solar observation at zero magnification to be used with sunlight. This film is used solely for the production of “Solar viewers.” The neutral density of AstroSolar™ Silver Film is also OD 5.0 and is CE certified.
This film does not require additional processing means to achieve the excellent optical properties needed for high magnification. It is not suitable for use with telescopes or camera lenses: when using the precise AstroSolar™ protective film for telescopes, impeccable optical quality is essential. However, this film must be handled very carefully, as both sides of the film are coated with metallic and protective coatings that are technically similar to a reflective surface coated on astronomical mirrors.
Since the “Solar Viewer” is visually used at zero magnification, the optical class of the film is not the most important. Instead, it is most desirable to cover it with high durability protective coatings to create a protective film that is much more resistant to accidental rough handling. This is achieved by using AstroSolar Silver Film, whose metallic hard coating layers are applied on both sides of the film, making it scratch-resistant without losing clarity and without creating double sun images due to multiple darkness and/or reflective film layers on top of each other.
One layer of AstroSolar™Silver Film provides a perfectly sharp and energy-balanced solar image, including the ability to recognize large sunspots and does not transmit irresponsible amounts of infrared (heat) radiation, for example, when using simpler soothing energy-absorbing films that do not have additional energy. Due to the two-sided metallization process, created by AstroSolar™ Silver Film, the film remains safe for direct viewing of the sun, even if the front viewer side is scratched or slightly damaged. Nevertheless, every solar energy viewer must always undergo a thorough user verification to identify possible defects from improper use and must be removed if a defect is visible.
