Silicone covers offer small but important changes to make 3D printing with E3D HotEnds even simpler, cleaner, and faster. They fit snugly onto the heater block and last longer than ever before.
Made from heat-resistant, non-stick silicone material, the covers repel melted plastic build-up. This is very helpful when using sticky materials like co-polymers and filled materials that tend to accumulate on the nozzles.
They also significantly increase temperature stability, especially if you use high airflow cooling around the nozzle for printing. Additional cooling combined with reduced heat radiation from the block and nozzle to the print really enhances the ability to print large overhangs and bridges while maintaining an extremely stable HotEnd temperature.
The covers simply slip onto the front of the HotEnd, requiring no disassembly - when first placed on a cold printing device, they fit snugly. The heated silicone expands to the necessary size to fit well on the HotEnd. V6 covers are supplied in a pack of 3, as they are not eternal. Depending on the materials you are printing and how much they are used, the silicone will wear over time. Even when using sticky abrasive materials and some abuse, they should easily withstand over 100 printing hours. Using less sticky materials like ABS can achieve nearly endless service life.
