The PT1000 resistance temperature detector (RTD) uses a platinum resistor. Platinum has a high and stable resistance to metal and a low temperature coefficient. Platinum resistors allow for easy and accurate measurement of even the smallest temperature changes. Platinum also has advantages as it does not react with many airborne pollutant gases and has very consistent properties in each batch. For these reasons, it has become the standard for temperature sensing accuracy.
