The German inventor Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin worked for more than twenty years developing the concept and design of the airship before patenting his invention in 1895. Perhaps one of his early sketches looked similar to a "Steampunk" airship? Commercial zeppelins have large cylindrical bodies made of fabric stretched over a rigid metal frame, containing large gas bags that provide buoyancy. Our airship is smaller in scale, more personal, and cozier – you can imagine piloting your ship with a cup of tea on the table where you laid out navigation maps. The "Steampunk" airship is an interesting, simple DIY project for anyone interested in aviation or model building. To create this retro wooden airship model, you won't need glue or special tools. Using Ugears 3D puzzles and models, you simply punch out laser-cut parts from artist-quality composite wood boards and assemble them. Everything you need is in the box, including instructions in 11 languages (Ukrainian, English, German, French, Polish, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean). The model kits also include a piece of sandpaper and wax so you can smooth and lubricate moving parts to ensure the smooth operation of the "Steampunk" airship.
