All about the product

Expansion board with 16 GPIO and I2C interface, which means that to fully utilize all the pins, it is enough to connect two wires to the microcontroller. The SX1509 also has PWM interfaces, allowing, for example, to control the brightness of LEDs. The board is similar to a multiplexer or "mux" in that it allows you to get more IO with fewer pins. It has a built-in keyboard controller, allowing you to connect up to 64 buttons in an 8x8 matrix. The board is powered by a voltage from 1.3 V to 3.6 V (5.5 V is tolerant). The device works with Arduino and other IO microcontrollers.
