The legendary Golden River, flowing through the Rokugan Empire, promises endless prosperity. Trade barges crisscross its shimmering surface, ferrying merchants from port to port, actively building commercial empires. The esteemed representatives of the noble clans of Crab, Crane, Manta, and Scorpion embark on an extraordinary journey, flying their own paths and fiercely competing for the favor of powerful noble families. Will they be able to overcome the difficulties and bring fabulous wealth to their clans?

In River of Gold, you play as one of a group of traders allied with legendary samurai clans, each trying to exploit the river to become as wealthy as possible. Invest in coastal facilities such as ports, markets, and temples, or focus on shipping to fulfill supply contracts. The strategy you choose is up to you!

What is this about?
During the game, players compete and try to collect as many victory points as possible by building trading empires, navigating rivers, and gaining influence among the nobility of Rokugan - a legendary empire where divine grace can change a person's fate.

Each turn, when rolling the dice, 3 unique options open up, but we can only choose one of them:

• Building a trading empire by constructing buildings on the banks of a river allows you to expand your clan's influence in a given region.
• Sailing down the river is a great opportunity to fill the holds of ships with goods and gold.
• Profitable presentations to influential clients allow you to gain valuable effects that will help in subsequent turns and at the end of the game.

If the result of the dice roll does not match our plans, we can use the grace of the gods and change our fate!

At the end of the 1st era, the emperor embarks on a journey along the Golden River to see if his empire is thriving. He evaluates the goods available at each stage of the journey and tests them. The entire game ends at the 2nd age. The winner will be the one who collects the most points!
