The SHIMANO DEORE CN-HG54 chain is one of the most popular choices for 10-speed systems. Optimized chain design ensures smooth and quiet gear shifting and efficient gearing. HG-X chains use directional construction with specially shaped inner and outer plates to optimize chain and cassette efficiency during shifting. The design of the outer plates is designed to reduce the chance of chain jamming. The inner plate is designed to make better contact with the cassette teeth, resulting in smoother shifting under heavy load, efficient pedaling, increased stiffness and near-silent operation. Longevity is ensured by chrome plating the chain pins and heat treating the bushings, pins and plates. The open design of the internal joints increases the release of dirt.
