Knife
Opinel pocket knife No. 8 blade length - 8.5 cm. The blade, made of 12C27 stainless steel modified by Sandvik and adapted to Opinel knives, is famous for its extremely high quality and easy daily maintenance. Steel is hardened by heat treating it by martensitic hardening. The carbon content in such steel is not less than 0.40%, so the blade is of high quality and resistant to corrosion.
Handle
For handles, Opinel usually chooses common beech wood. Beech trees grown in French farms are tough, resistant to external factors and easy to process. The wood looks homogeneous, and its light color can vary from yellow to pink. Beech wood can be recognized by its abundant dark streaks. In order to protect the handle from moisture and dirt, it is varnished.
