Knife

Opinel pocket knife No. 8 blade length - 8.5 cm. The blade, made of 12C27 stainless steel modified by Sandvik and adapted to Opinel knives, is famous for its extremely high quality and easy daily maintenance. Steel is hardened by heat treating it by martensitic hardening. The carbon content in such steel is not less than 0.40%, so the blade is of high quality and resistant to corrosion.

The traditional Opinel blade is of the scimitar type. This shape was inspired by the curved point of the Turkish sword. The jatagan-type blade has a convex profile that gives it strength and ensures the possibility of repeated sharpening.

Handle

The handle of this Opinel knife is made of Mediterranean olive wood. The color can vary from yellow to almost orange, with dense wood veins.

Case
This Opinel folding knife comes complete with a faux leather case with a handy mini carabiner.

Virobloc safety ring
Opinel no. 8 like all other curved Opinel knives starting from no. 6, has Marcel Opinel's 1955 the Virobloc protective ring was invented. The Virobloc stainless steel cut-out ring consists of two parts: a fixed part and a movable part. The blade is fixed both unfolded (to make it safe to use the knife) and folded (thus ensuring safety when transporting the knife).
