All about the product
The Aquaphor B100-15 cartridge is intended for protection against lime deposits. Removes chlorine, phenol, oil products, iron, heavy metals (mercury, lead). Removes unpleasant taste and smell.
AQUALEN is an original material developed and patented by AQUAPHOR. The application of this material in household water treatment products offers special advantages, which is why it is used in almost all AQUAPHOR filters.
Contains AQUALEN, which quickly and irreversibly removes heavy metal ions. Contains safe, effective silver. Complies with European standards. Suitable for German and American filter jugs. Cleans water from rust
AQUALEN ensures:
100% filtration - no part of the water bypasses the filter (no channel effect).
better removal of bacteria (using activated silver);
efficient removal of heavy metals from water of any hardness;
quick removal of pollutants;
Domestic water treatment is fundamentally different from industrial water treatment in that it is necessary to remove contaminants very quickly in a household, with water flowing through a small-volume cartridge. Conventional water filters use activated carbon as the main active component. Water flowing through the filter and coming into contact with the carbon granules leaves some of the harmful pollutants behind. Some pollutants are trapped mechanically (the surface of coal granules can be rough and porous), the other part is trapped by chemical reactions.

Small stationary filters have two major disadvantages: they do not use smaller size granules and they have a channel effect. Smaller-sized granules in the same filter volume provide a larger contact surface with water, thus achieving greater water purification efficiency. But the water just doesn't seep through the thick layer of tiny granules. AQUALEN fiber in AQUAPHOR filters expands when in contact with water and separates the granule layers - then water can flow through. In practice, this makes it possible to use half the size of granules in AQUAPHOR filters than in conventional filters, and collect pollutants four times faster.

AQUALEN fiber is held in the layers of granules because it is woven between them. Similar to plant roots, which hold the plant in the soil and protect it from erosion, AQUALEN fiber prevents the formation of channels and ensures excellent filtration of all water passing through the filter.
Common ion exchange materials:
carboxylic resin, sulfocation. Carbon of different dispersions.
The channel effect occurs when the water flow separates the uncompressed granules. Water flowing through the filter separates the granules and creates channels through which it can flow without coming into contact with the pollutant-collecting surfaces.

Another very important advantage of filters using AQUALEN fibers is their ability to remove even the smallest particles of colloidal iron. The filtration efficiency is even four times higher than the standards for drinking water. The spaces between the granules are densely filled with AQUALEN fiber, which is 3-5 times thinner than the diameter of a human hair.
AQUAPHOR filters are no exception - we use high-quality activated carbon made from coconut shells. In addition to carbon, filters also use an ion exchange material: it releases sodium or oxygen ions and absorbs heavy metal ions. This material is usually in the form of round polymer granules. AQUALEN performs this task in our filters. Unlike the aforementioned conventional materials, AQUALEN is fibrous. This property substantially improves the water treatment characteristics.
Filters with AQUALEN absorb pollutants much faster due to the larger cleaning surface area.
The amount of ion exchange compounds in the AQUALEN material is ten times higher than in the ion exchange materials of conventional filters of the same volume.
AQUALEN retains heavy metals more effectively. The attraction of heavy metals to AQUALEN ion exchange complexes is 800 times greater than that of calcium or magnesium (which determine water hardness). This means that AQUALEN recognizes and absorbs heavy metal particles in water of any hardness. This is one of the features that traditional filters do not have.
Filters with AQUALEN provide better protection against bacteria. Using the previously described metal ion collection technology, there is an additional possibility of interweaving silver components into a more active form of ions.
