The 70-180mm F2.8 G2 represents the further evolution of the first-generation model, which gained wide acceptance in the market, and includes several improvements.
TAMRON's patented VC (vibration compensation) mechanism tops the list of improvements in the new G2 lens.
The lens maintains the maneuverability of its compact size and weight* in its class and allows for more stable shooting.
The first-generation 70-180mm F2.8 optical design has been updated to deliver uncompromisingly high image quality throughout the zoom range. TAMRON has also shortened the MOD (Minimum Object Distance) at the wide end to 0.3m (11.8in), compared to the first generation's 0.85m (33.5in), allowing users to enjoy the lens' unique photographic expressions. In addition, the new 70-180mm F2.8 G2 zoom features TAMRON's renowned VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focusing mechanism for fast and accurate autofocus that works well for both stills and video.
The new 70-180mm F2.8 G2 zoom also supports dedicated TAMRON Lens UtilityTM and TAMRON Lens Utility MobileTM apps developed by TAMRON in-house. The software can be used to customize functions for different shooting styles when shooting stills and videos. New lens design improves performance and provides scratch resistance. This single lens combines the high maneuverability and practicality worthy of the second-generation G2 badge, and will deliver a shooting experience that makes a fast-aperture telephoto zoom lens even more enjoyable.
