PA (polyamide) describes a group of polymers containing an amide repeating unit. There are generally 3 main types of PA used in the FDM industry: PA12, PA66 and PA6.
Sometimes these materials can be grafted with other polymers or reinforced with glass or carbon fibers. Nylons generally have high strength, toughness, elasticity, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance, and heat resistance, making them widely sought after in various industrial applications.
Nylon plastics are challenging materials for FDM printing due to their lower adhesion to conventional 3D printing work surfaces and higher tendency to warp. Additionally, there are several grades of PA plastic, each of which behaves differently.
