The TCA9548A multiplexer is designed to connect up to 64 I2C devices to a single microcontroller using the same address. The I2C interface sends a signal to devices connected in parallel, so to control one of them, you need the device address. But what if the addresses of those devices overlap? That's what the TCA9548A is designed for. This multiplexer from Adafruit can control up to 8 I2C devices, and has 8 selectable addresses: from 0x70 to 0x77. After receiving a byte with the address and the number of the device you want to control, it allows you to select only the I2C device you want to control, even if the device address overlaps with another. Since the multiplexer has 8 selectable addresses, you can connect up to 8 such modules and control up to 64 devices with the same address.
Note: To use the module with a breadboard, you need to solder the connectors.
