LAYWOO-D3 is a German-designed wooden plastic for desktop 3D printers. Specifically, LAYWOO-D3 plastic is a blend of 40% recycled wood and a binding polymer. This wood/polymer composite allows you to print just like thermoplastic plastics like ABS and PLA, but gives your creation a wooden look.LAYWOO-D3 plastic is designed for 3D printers based on RepRap technology. LAYWOO-D3 plastic has a thermal strength similar to PLA and can be printed from 175 °C to 250 °C. After printing, your object will look and smell like wood, and it will also be able to be handled in the same way. After printing, you can cut, sand and paint your creations, similar to what you can do with wooden objects.
Depending on the temperature at which you print LAYWOO-D3 plastic, it will take on a different shade of brown. This means that by deliberately changing the printing temperature, you can simulate the growth ring effect of a tree. At 180°C, your LAYWOO-D3 prints will take on a light color, while at 245°C, the print will become darker.
Caution! This plastic is particularly sensitive to low temperatures (15°C and below), so it should be stored in a warm room. Otherwise, the product will become very brittle and may break!
