Flash sync with electronic shutter
For the first time on an α camera, electronic shutter sync with flash 9 is available thanks to the fast readout from the layered CMOS sensor. All the advantages of the electronic shutter remain when shooting with flash.

2-speed shutter for flash sync up to 1/400 sec.

Breathtaking resolution and image quality
The new 50.1 MP Exmor RS CMOS sensor offers high resolution and sensitivity with low noise and up to 15 stops of dynamic range11. The new image processor achieves even better color accuracy than previous models.

Wide ISO100 ~ 32000 sensitivity range
Despite the high pixel count of the sensor, the sensitive design with backlight, gapless on-chip chip lens and non-reflective sealed glass allows the standard ISO range of IZO100 ~ 32000 to be extended to ISO50 ~ 10240012.

The α1's new image sensor and BIONZ XR processor enable the recording of realistic 8K (7680 × 4320) 30p images. Four times the resolution of 4K with Real time Tracking and Real-Time Eye AF. 8K quality footage is also perfect for flexible 4K editing.
4K movies are shot at a high 120 fps. speed20
The α1 supports internal high-speed 4K movie recording at up to 120fps. and enables smooth, expressive up to 5x slow motion21 playback. 10-bit 4:2:2 Chroma subsampling encoding technology can be used with Long-GOP or Intra (All-I)22 image compression for exceptional image quality, while the new image sensor and BIONZ XR processor reduce image distortion .

Cinematic image with S-Cinetone
The α1 features the same S-Cinetone color matrix as the FX9, FX6 and other Cinema Line cameras, which is used to create beautiful colors and skin tones. Responding to the growing need for more expressive depth, S-Cinetone can produce the natural midtones essential for a healthy-looking skin tone, as well as soft colors and stunning highlights.
Image stabilization using Active mode25
With the new Active Mode for video, 5-axis optical image stabilization, manual shooting is especially effective. The image processing of the BIONZ XR processor in real time applies optimal compensation for shooting in all formats, including 4K 26. All this is realized while maintaining the compact size and mobility of the α system.

High performance electronic viewfinder
9.44 million pixels (approx.) The OLED viewfinder on the α1 camera currently has the highest resolution on the market27. It features a 0.90 k. magnification28 with a 41° field of view (FOV) for a clear, wide view and an updated design with a 25mm high eyepiece29. 240 fps refresh rate with UXGA FOV is another innovation27 for clear, fast imaging.

Panoramic shots with electronic shutter30
Using the electronic shutter at low speeds can reduce screen response, making it difficult to track fast subjects. Enable the [Low Frame Rate Limit] function to improve screen response and capture panoramic shots.

Seamlessly switch between full-frame and APS-C formats
M and S-size images31 have the same pixel count and AF area in full-frame and APS-C modes, so you can seamlessly switch between full-frame [M:21MP] and APS-C [M:21MP] formats when shooting the same scene.

Different settings for photos and movies
A subset of settings now changes based on the selected mode. This is ideal when you want to use different aperture, shutter speed and other settings for photos and movies32.

SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps (USB 3.2) Type-C® connector
The USB Type-C® connector, which supports USB 3.2 SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps data transfer, enables fast data transfer to a PC Remote computer (tethered) for smooth handling of large files.

1000BASE-T Ethernet for fast communication
The integrated connector for wired 1000BASE-T connection enables fast, stable data transfer at gigabit speeds. FTPS is supported, so SSL or TLS encryption allows for greater security.
Universal FTP connection
FTP photo and movie uploading and remote camera control are possible via wireless LAN, high-speed wired LAN, or USB connected smartphone. You can specify the types of files to transfer.

Photos and movies can be transferred to a remote FTP server via wireless LAN, high-speed wired LAN, or wired smartphone connection. Wireless data bandwidth is approximately 3.5k. faster than α 9 II.

Universal functions in a remote (linked) way
The Imaging Edge Desktop Remote Control application37 can be used for PC Remote (tethered) shooting via LAN or wired USB connection. Remote control from a mobile device is also possible.

Lossless compressed RAW
In addition to compressed and uncompressed RAW, the α1 also features efficient lossless compression.

New Light JPEG file size
The Light JPEG size setting produces smaller files than the Standard setting, allowing time-sensitive news and sports photographers to deliver material faster.

Imaging Edge Mobile now supports RAW file transfer and lossless compression. It can also remotely control the Touch Tracking and Touch Focus tracking and focusing functions, making AF convenient.
