The Newell C8 is a universal eight-channel charger compatible with most commercially available cylindrical batteries. The LCD displays voltage, current, charge time, internal resistance, and cell state of charge, all of which make it easy to determine process parameters and status. The specially designed housing allows charging even the largest (type C or 22650) batteries with all eight channels at the same time. Automatic or manual selection of the optimal current By default, the charger determines the charging current automatically based on the characteristics of the battery. Additionally, 100-1500mA current can be set manually for Li-ion batteries and 100-1000mA for Ni-MH and Ni-CD batteries. Battery type selection Newell Smart C8 automatically recognizes Li-ion 4.2 V and NiMH/NiCd 1.48 V. LiFEP04 batteries and Li-ion 4.35 V batteries are not detected automatically. In order to charge these batteries, their type must be entered manually. Internal resistance and cell capacity measurement Before charging the device, the internal resistance is measured and the cell volume is estimated. Both values are displayed on the LCD screen. Calculating capacity during charging After charging, the approximate battery capacity indicator can be read on the screen. Multiple protections against battery misplacement and short circuit and automatic charging stop when the battery is fully charged to prevent overcharging make the process a safe and energy efficient process. The fire-resistant material housing and well-designed heat dissipation further increase the level of safety. Repairing Over-Discharged Li-Ion Batteries Most chargers cannot charge over-discharged or 0V cells. Newell Smart C8 will try to reactivate and repair the Li-ion battery when it detects this element. Unfortunately, items discharged below a certain level are destroyed and may be impossible to reactivate.
