These discs of the coarsest granules are used for leveling the polystyrene insulation of buildings. In the case of gray polystyrene (with graphite, better insulating parameters), it is recommended to sand the entire surface of the polystyrene to improve the adhesion of the glue to the panel surface. The addition of graphite has a negative effect on the adhesion of the adhesive used to rub the reinforcing mesh.

In finer granules, they can be used to finish sanding concrete surfaces or to remove old paint coatings from walls, such as old oil panels.
