Apple Orders 10 Million Foldable iPhone Ultra Units — Reports

Apple appears to be gearing up for a major launch of its very first foldable smartphone. According to Nikkei Asia, citing sources within the supply chain, the company has already placed an order to manufacture roughly 10 million iPhone Ultra units.

Earlier rumours pointed to more modest plans, somewhere in the range of 7 to 8 million devices.

A September Debut Alongside the iPhone 18 Pro

The new device is expected to be unveiled this September, most likely together with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple has reportedly ordered another 70 million units of those models.

In total, the company plans to produce around 220 million iPhones throughout 2026.

Room for More

On top of that, suppliers have allegedly been asked to prepare for additional orders of up to 85 million devices — though those would come in the second half of the year.
