Manufactured by SparkFun, it functions as an RS232 radio transceiver. The chip is based on the popular MAX3232 converter, which converts low-voltage logic signals sent to/from the UART interface of a minicomputer into signals that conform to the voltage standard and polarity. The MAX3232-compatible SP3232 chip module is a voltage converter that allows digital systems operating from 3.3 V to 5 V to achieve the voltage levels required for serial RS232 transmission.
