Many have tried to recreate the scent of iris, but its rhizomes have never had the same attraction as the Bois d'Iris. The abundance of natural iris has allowed to create an unprecedented depth and authenticity of the rocks. The scent of iris can be found in the rocky hills of Tuscany. Finally, steam distillation completes the process of producing the essence of iris (also known as butter) and ensures that chemists adhere to strict rules that require the application of moderate temperatures. Once distilled, this creamy substance is transformed into a wonderful and priceless treasure: iris absolute. Eight years of complex work are required to extract one liter of iris absolute from forty tons of iris rhizomes, hence the rarity of this aristocratic aroma in today's perfume compositions...
