PrimaSELECT Polyetherimide (PEI) Ultem 9085 is an amorphous, high-performance thermoplastic with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 186 °C. This material has the best mechanical properties, flame resistance (UL 94-VO rating) and strength-to-weight ratio.
PrimaSELECT PEI plastic has unique properties, as it is not in contact with water during the production process and is directly packed in vacuum packaging. Due to these properties, PrimaCreator PEI plastic is particularly suitable for use in FDM and FFF 3D printers. Ultem 3D printing material has excellent adhesion between layers, which significantly increases impact resistance, strength and durability. It ensures high performance throughout the 3D printing process.
To successfully 3D print PEI, there are a few things to keep in mind. Your 3D printer must be capable of handling the requirements of PEI plastic. The material should be printed on a 3D printer with a nozzle temperature of 355-390 °C. The heating platform should be set to 120-160 °C, and it is important to have a heated chamber. Also, make sure that the 3D printer is located in a room with little draft and temperature fluctuations.
It is best to print on PEI sheet at a print speed of 15-30 mm/s.
