Using learning AI and thousands of real-world images, we've trained the EOS R3 to accurately and confidently recognize people, animals and vehicles wherever they move.

People can be tracked even if they are wearing a mask with a helmet or sunglasses. For motorsport photography, the EOS R3 can recognize motorbikes and racing cars, even distinguish between closed and open cockpits by pinpointing the driver's helmet (if visible).

Video still photo merging

The EOS R3 is a professional hybrid capable of capturing cinema, broadcast-quality video and sensational stills. It's packed with features that take operators to a new level of creativity, and can record resampled 4K or 6K RAW video in-camera or on a CFexpress card. Canon Log 3 provides wider dynamic range and greater color gradation capabilities.

And best of all, the same subject detection features available to photographers also work in video, so you can track moving subjects throughout the frame to keep them sharp.

For sports and news photographers, connectivity is essential. The EOS R3 uses a wired LAN port and 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi frequency to communicate with computer networks, laptops and mobile devices for quick and easy image sharing and remote camera control. The EOS R3 is also compatible with our Mobile File Transfer app, which professional photographers use to add metadata and transfer images from a smartphone via Wi-Fi or mobile data.

The EOS R3 also features a new multi-function accessory that provides data transfer and power for new accessories, as well as acting as an attachment for Speedlite flashes and triggers.

Power comes from the LP-E19 battery, the same battery used in the EOS-1DX III series. Your EF lenses will work exactly as they should with a variety of quality mount adapters that also provide additional features such as a control ring or built-in filters

Responsive customizable controls

The EOS R3 is designed exclusively for professionals. Its shape is inspired by the EOS-1DX series cameras, but it is smaller and lighter and incorporates the mirrorless design principles of the EOS R system for superior control.

The camera has a variety of controls, and the multi-controller and smart control are instinctively within reach of your thumb. With three customizable dials on the camera body and a lens control ring on each RF lens, you can adjust shutter speed, aperture, ISO and exposure compensation without taking the viewfinder off your eye.

The EOS R3 is also equipped with a four-million-dot high-resolution vari-angle display that is bright and clear even in bright conditions. It allows you to easily combine creative perspectives. Two card slots allow you to record video files and videos to widely available SD cards (supporting UHS-II) or the ultra-fast next-generation CFexpress media.

Use an electronic shutter with flash

To make it easier to balance daylight and flash even in bright conditions or when capturing the head of fast-moving subjects, flash sync is now available with the camera's electronic shutter, both on Canon Speedlites and third-party studio flashes.
