PrimaSELECT polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) is an amorphous high-performance thermoplastic with better impact and chemical resistance than PEI. PPSU can be used at temperatures up to 180 °C. Compared to other amorphous thermoplastics, PPSU has better hydrolysis resistance. It is steam sterilized for an almost unlimited time when measured in steam autoclave cycles. It is also resistant to common acids and bases over a wide temperature range.PrimaCreator's PPSU plastic complies with ISO10993 for medical applications and European regulations EC No. 1935/2004, EC No. 2023/2006 and EC No. 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, and also meets the requirements of the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for food contact. The dyes that PrimaCreator uses to color the heated plastics also comply with these European regulations.
PrimaCreator PPSU plastic has unique properties, as it does not come into contact with water during the production process and is packed directly in vacuum packaging. Due to these material properties, PrimaCreator PPSU plastic is particularly suitable for use in FDM and FFF 3D printers. The material has excellent adhesion between layers, which greatly improves impact resistance, strength and durability. This ensures an easy 3D printing process. PPSU plastic is based on Solvay technology.
The 3D printer must be able to produce PPSU plastic and must be able to print at a nozzle temperature of 360-400 °C. The heating platform must be set to 140 °C or higher. A heated work chamber is very important. It is also important that the 3D printer is located in a room with almost no drafts and temperature fluctuations.
PPSU is best suited for 3D printing on PEI plate at a print speed of 15-30 mm/s.
