All about the product

Manufacturer's product description:

Omegon LED finder - makes it easier to find astronomical objects

Whether it's the Moon, a planet, or a distant galaxy, locating objects in the night sky is sometimes not so easy, especially for beginners. The Omegon Red Dot Finder makes this much easier. Just replace your inferior finder scope. Stop looking and start looking!

Advantages in brief:

• plastic LED finder

• projection onto the screen to make the image clearer

• fits Skywatcher / Celestron / Vixen / GP Finder boots

• dimmable - adjust the brightness as you need

• easy to install - suitable for any telescope

Why it makes it easier for beginners to find objects

Locating objects is easy with a red dot finder. Optical finders usually turn things upside down and you have to think hard about how to find

objects. The LED finder allows orientation in the sky.

Reasons why it's better:

has a projection screen, but without optics.

you see the sky as it really is.

it's very easy to start searching for astronomical objects.

Red dot - dimming

A rotary switch turns on and adjusts the light level to be just the right brightness for you. On the projection screen, you will see a red dot that looks like it is floating in the night sky when you look at it. It's also right where your telescope is pointed.

Omegon LED finder! - allows you to easily search, find and successfully track objects.

Our Expert Comment:

Amateur astronomer Martin Brückner tested five well-known red dot finders at the public observatory in Munich. He compared the Baader Skysurfer III (old version), the Baader Skysurfer III (new version), the Omegon LED finder, and the TeleVue Quickpoint Basic.

The Omegon LED finder was the clear winner.

Test conclusion:

"Although the Omegon has a smaller clear field of view, it performs the same function and accessories as the Skysurfer and is about half the price. A clear favorite!"
