Shimano TL-BR003 hydraulic brake bleed cup

A cup used to bleed hydraulic bicycle brakes, suitable for Shimano brakes that use mineral oil. Especially suitable for gravity ventilation, where the cup is placed with the handle at the highest point and the brake caliper at the lowest.

1. Remove the brake pads and place a vent block between the pistons to prevent the pistons from coming loose.
2. Remove the handle bleed screw.
3. Screw the cup into place (make sure the O-ring of the screw was removed with the screw).
4. Attach a suitable hose and reservoir for the brake caliper bleed screw.
5. Fill the cup with mineral oil.
6. Loosen the brake caliper bleed screw to allow new brake fluid to drain through the system.
7. Pump the brake lever to drain the brake fluid from the lower end.
8. Fill the cup if necessary to prevent air from entering the system.
9. Finally, close the brake caliper bleed screw
10. Pump a few more times to make sure the air bubbles have left the hose (you can even tap the hose).
11. Remove the cup and screw in the bleed screw with the O-ring.
