Alarm systems based on passive IR sensors detect an intruder who has already entered the room.
The purpose of a system based on IR barriers is to trigger an alarm when an intruder is about to enter the premises while still outside the facility.
The curtain consists of several active IR barriers that create an invisible "grill" in the window or door niche.
Attempting to breach these "bars" immediately triggers an alarm.
IR curtains are also used to protect controlled passages, gates, fences, valuable objects in open areas, etc. In museums, IR curtains play the role of a non-confrontational, discreet barrier between viewers and valuable exhibits.
In the event of a permanent interruption of the beam (in the presence of an obstacle between the transmitter and the receiver), the barrier does not return to its original state.
This barrier behavior is very important in controlling entry gates, entrance barriers, etc.
